The Greek word for peace is εἰρήνη and pronounced i-rah-nay. So, the whole phrase: εἰρήνη θεός: is pronounced “i-rah-nay Theos”, which means the “Peace of God”.

There’s no denying we live in a very disturbing world. And the craziness around us seems only to be getting worse. Peace, real peace, is hard to come by. Thankfully we have a God who desires for us to have peace. Not just temporary peace, but permanent, pervading peace, even in this very disturbing world. This kind of peace however can only come from God. And He sent Jesus to give it to us.

This is the foundation of our praise to Him for His peace. He is willing and eager to give us peace, the kind of peace that can only come from a faithful, loving God. Here are some scriptures for you to remember and understand why we praise Him.

Isa. 26:3 “The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You.”

John 14:27 “Peace, I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful.”

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

Ephesians 2:17-18 “And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near; for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.”

2 Thessalonians 3:16 “Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all!”
