The Greek word for patience is μακροθυμία and pronounced mak-roth-oo-mee-ah. So, the whole phrase: μακροθυμία θεός: is pronounced “mak-roth-oo-mee-ah Theos”, which means the “Patience of God”.

His patience is the only reason we are still here. If He didn’t have patience, we all would have been doomed long ago. And it takes quite a bit to go beyond it. The reason for His patience is that God does not want anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance and experience His marvelous grace.

2 Peter 3:15 “and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you,”

Rom 9:22-24 “What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?”

Rom 2:4 “Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?”
