Did Not See That Coming:

God is not surprised by anything. There is no time where He has not been in control. The devil has never caught God napping and pulled a fast one on Him. Neither do we. There is never a moment when God is not in control of the situation.

Ecc. 1:9 "That which has been, is that which is to be, and that which has been done, is that which will be done, and there is no new thing under the sun."

Certainly, there are situation which catch us unaware and perhaps even unprepared, but not so with God. He is completely aware of every situation. Which is a good thing since its easy for us to lose sight and get frustrated and confused. It’s easy for us to make the wrong choice or decision.

The good news is God still sits on His throne in heaven and is still very much in control. Although we often find ourselves having less control than we would like or thought we had, God has never lost control. He has never not known what needs to take place to fix any given situation. If He did lose control scripture would not be able to say:

Rom 8:28 “And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.”

This happens because God is in control. He is never surprised and never misses anything. You just can’t sneak up on Him. There is nothing you can do that has or will surprise Him.

However, He can surprise us. Sometimes His mercy, compassion, patience and faithfulness surprises us because we see how little we deserve His love for us. Now that is surprising.
