Wisdom:

The Greek word for Wisdom is sophia; pronounced “sof-ee-ah.”

This can be a very confusing world. And it can be difficult to make the right decision at times. It’s no wonder that we all need wisdom. There is a difference between making the right decisions and making expedient ones. And you can see the effects of poor-quality wisdom all around.

There are only two places to get wisdom. One source of wisdom is the world, and that’s a poor substitute for the real quality wisdom. The other source is God, and without a doubt the best wisdom comes from Him. He always has the top-quality wisdom. Not surprising, it’s often at odds with the prevailing wisdom of this world.

James 1:5 “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

Real wisdom is something God directs us to seek. In fact, James writes if we lack wisdom, we should ask to get some from God. He also warns us we should ask believing God will answer us and give the wisdom we need. But that warning itself should encourage us, God desires for us to have it and to believe He wants to give it to us.

He is eager to give it to those who seek Him for it. If you don’t believe God will give it, where else can you go to get it? There is only one option. The good news is God wants us to have it so He encourages us to seek Him for it. With the promise that if we do and believe He will give it then He will. I have yet to see God not deliver on His promise to give wisdom to those who ask.

There was a pagan king in the Old Testament by the name of Nebuchadnezzar. He needed wisdom about a dream he had. The only man who was able to offer him that wisdom was the one who went to God to get it. It was clear that even this pagan king could get wisdom if he goes to God to get it. God revealed Himself as the one who knows what’s going on and will give wisdom to those who seek Him for it.

We all need wisdom, including all those around us and God has it. You can go to God on their behalf to get it. This hoodie may give you an opportunity to plant a seed that reveals God as the premier source of wisdom.
