Courage:
The Greek word for Courage is tharseō; pronounced “thar-seh-o.”
This can be a terrifying time to live in. It’s easy in this world to feel overwhelmed by all that goes on in our own life, but when you add to that all the weirdness going on in this country and then the world, it can be almost unbearable. When one crisis is over it seems, there are two or three ready to take its place.
With so much to focus on, it can be hard to retain the courage we need. How can we manage to keep our sanity and accomplish anything we deem to be worthwhile. Courage to face this life can be elusive and hard to keep, but then there is God.
Eph_6:10 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.”
He has made promises and He still rules overall and has not lost His throne. He wants us to put our faith in the only one who actually has everything figured out.
Isa 41:10 ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will also help you; I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
God spoke very clear. He anticipates our need of courage as we look to Him to be our source of strength and wisdom. He enables us to have the courage to not only to continue but also to overcome.
As Christians we are aware of what we face. Scriptures make it very clear we should expect hardship and tribulations. But just as Jesus overcame; He has given us to overcome and have victory over all that concerns us.
As Paul says, “Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or trouble, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? Just as it is written: “FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE KILLED ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE REGARDED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.” But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. (Rom 8:35-37)
But those without Jesus can see the courage we have in Christ and see the hope which we have in Him. Our purpose is to pray for those around us. We can pray and ask the Father to give them courage. This shirt is an invitation to prayer for that courage, for yourself and for others.
You can plant the seed of God’s faithfulness and strength in those you meet throughout the day. Look for a chance to offer to pray for those you meet to have courage in their particular situation and that they would see God in action on their behalf.
God is not willing for any to perish, but wants all people to be saved and come to repentance and the knowledge of the truth. And you have a chance to plant a seed to that end.
