Comfort:

The Greek work for Comfort is paraklēsis; pronounced “par-ak-lay-sis.”

There is always need for comfort, all you have to do is look around. Wars, diseases, economics, disasters are only a few of the things that seem to be more common today. All of which cause stress, anxiety, pain, great loss, fear and despair. Sadness is inevitable in this world of chaos, but there is always hope.

The Lord is a God of comfort and who does not hold back from those who seek refuge in Him. In fact, He gives us comfort with the goal of us passing that comfort on to others. The comfort He offers is not just for those who believe. Through His comfort, even those who don’t believe can see He is a God of love and that He cares for them.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

This means He is purposeful in giving us comfort in all our afflictions. He does this so we can show others. He wants to be a God of mercies and comfort for those around us as well. What a great privilege it is to be able to provide the comfort God gives.
