Loser:

There is a common saying: “In this world there are winners and losers”

Our nature is to do all we can regardless of morality or ethics to be included in the group of winners. The thought is we are winners when we believe we have reached a place of recognition and prosperity. However, finally “making it” doesn’t bring actual fulfillment. Something is always missing.

This lack forces many to work even harder to achieve and attain all the time feeling inside that no matter how hard they try to be a winner, inside they never seem to shake the sense of being locked inescapably in the Loser’s camp.

There is a parable Jesus talked about a rich man who had increased his wealth and had a great abundance thinking he had finally made it. He was obviously a winner. But in the parable as soon as he reached his high place God required an accounting of his soul. Regardless of his attainment, God who he would have to stand before would not be impressed.

We can gain the whole world and that would still not make us winners. Regardless of what we do and achieve in this life, if we do it without Christ, we will still be part of the Loser’s group.

When we have put Christ first, when we have sought the kingdom of God and His righteousness first and foremost, we are assured of His care and supply for all we need. Beyond this, He puts us on a path to fulfill His purpose and to participate in His plans. This is real fulfillment.

Jer 29:11 “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Eph 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”

This is what God see in us, His potential, His purpose, His will. And as we abide in Him, we become part of the group God considers to be winners. And access to this group is open to everyone. He sees the same in each of those He has given breath to.

And in the end, it is only God’s opinion that matters.
